Year in Review: 2022
We pray God’s abundant blessings on you and your loved ones this New Year! Through your generous support, PLFM was able to reach more youth and families this year than ever before. God continues to demonstrate His goodness and faithfulness! In 2022, we hosted two Faith & Family Agriculture Festivals, three workshops and gave away over 400 lbs. of fresh produce from our community garden. We shared God’s love with numerous families across eight counties in North and Central Florida. Thank you for your support!
Growing for God
Your generosity makes it possible to fulfill our mission. Our community garden, created in the fall of 2020, continues to bless local youth and families living at or below the poverty line in the middle of a food desert. In 2022, we grew a variety of cool and warm season crops to foster healthy living and help those in need.
A few of the crops grown include broccoli, cabbage, kale, lettuce, peppers, pumpkins, squash, and strawberries!
PLFM hosted three Growing for God workshops, partnering with UF/IFAS Extension for two of them. Youth in our Farm Life → New Life program enjoyed strawberry smoothies, watermelon, and homemade pumpkin pie all from our garden!
Through the Growing for God activities, they learned basic aspects of growing plants while being reminded of God’s great love for them. They even took home a plant they potted themselves!
Volunteers
We are extremely thankful for the 70+ volunteers who logged over 1,700 volunteer hours in 2022, cultivating the garden, helping with Festivals, maintaining the property, and building various projects to improve the facility. Supporters from Florida to California gave generously of their time, talent, and resources; and most importantly continued to pray for our ministry and the work God is doing in our communities. PLFM remains 100% volunteer led and operated—every dollar received goes directly to our programs benefiting the youth and families we serve.
Faith & Family Ag Festivals
PLFM’s April and October Festivals were made possible through donations, sponsorship, and grants from generous individuals and businesses. We enjoyed educating youth and their families about agriculture in a safe and fun setting. We shared God’s love as we provided lunch and gave away prizes for everyone! This annual event will be held again in April/May of 2023. If you’re interested in getting involved, whether it’s through sponsorships, donations or volunteering, contact Rebecca Hall at RHall@PromisedLandFM.org.
